The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing CAD drawings, programming laser cutting operations, optimising material utilisation, and supporting the smooth transition of jobs from design through to production.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, modify and maintain CAD drawings and production documentation.
- Convert customer drawings and concepts into manufacturing-ready files.
- Program CNC laser cutting equipment using nesting and CAM software.
- Optimise sheet layouts to maximise material utilisation and production efficiency.
- Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and customer requirements.
- Support quoting and estimating processes by reviewing drawings and material requirements.
- Liaise with internal stakeholders to ensure production requirements are met.
- Maintain drawing revisions and document control systems.
- Assist with prototype development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety and manufacturing standards.
Essential
- Previous experience in a CAD Drafting, CAD Technician, CNC Programming or Laser Programming role.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor or similar CAD software.
- Strong ability to interpret engineering and fabrication drawings.
- Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and manufacturing processes.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
- Experience with nesting software such as SigmaNEST, TruTops, BySoft or equivalent.
- Exposure to laser cutting, CNC machining or fabrication environments.
- Engineering, drafting or related technical qualification.
- Experience working within a production or manufacturing environment.
