Job description
We are partnering with a public sector organisation seeking a Payroll Officer to support the Payroll Supervisor in ensuring all staff are paid correctly, on time, and in line with company policies and legal requirements. This is an initial six-month contract based in Belmont, working full-time Monday to Friday, with hours from 8:30/9:00am to 4:30/5:00pm.

- Ensure payroll is processed in line with agreements, legislation, and policies.
- Manage end-to-end payroll, including employee onboarding and termination.
- Check and process payroll data accurately and on time.
- Provide advice on pay, leave entitlements, and related matters.
- Handle superannuation, salary sacrifice, and refer complex issues when needed.
- Process adjustments, leave audits, terminations, and payroll-related payments.
- Maintain HR/payroll systems and keep employee records accurate and compliant.
- Reconcile and issue payslips, summaries, and required tax information.
- Support reporting, system maintenance, and workers compensation processes.
- Follow workplace policies (safety, conduct) and contribute to continuous improvement and other assigned duties.
- Experience in payroll administration using a computerised system in a medium-sized environment.
- Aurion system experience.
- Ability to interpret and apply industrial agreements.
- Knowledge of workers compensation and superannuation processes.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
- Excellent organisation and time management with ability to meet deadlines.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team under pressure.
- Sound judgement, initiative, and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Full Australian working rights and possession of, or the ability to acquire, a satisfactory National Police Clearance Certificate (dated within the last twelve months).
