Join a well-established and highly respected player in New Zealand's automation sector, delivering tailored solutions to some of the country’s most dynamic manufacturing and processing businesses.

About the Opportunity

This role sits within the core project delivery arm of the business, overseeing a high-performing team of experienced engineers and technical specialists. With a focus on food, beverage, and wider industrial manufacturing, you’ll be responsible for guiding complex automation projects from proposal through to execution—ensuring commercial targets, delivery timelines, and technical outcomes are consistently met.

You’ll act as the key conduit between business development, engineering, and operational execution, with a strong emphasis on leadership, strategy, and client value.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of 15–20 senior automation and controls professionals
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of multi-site, multi-disciplinary industrial projects
  • Collaborate with business development and sales teams on pricing, solution design, and client proposals
  • Own project budgeting, resourcing, reporting, and commercial oversight (P&L accountability)
  • Support pre-sales technical engagement, risk review, and solution validation
  • Drive continuous improvement across project execution, customer experience, and team performance
About You:
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in industrial automation, electrical engineering, or controls-related environments
  • Strong team leadership capability within a project or engineering delivery setting
  • Experience managing complex budgets and commercial performance
  • Adept at balancing technical credibility with business decision-making
  • Confident in fast-paced environments with concurrent projects and shifting priorities
  • Industry exposure to food & beverage, packaging, manufacturing or processing sectors preferred
This is a strategic leadership position where your ability to guide others, manage commercial performance, and navigate technical discussions will set you apart.

Why Apply?
  • Strategic leadership opportunity in a fast-moving, technically advanced environment
  • Autonomy to shape your team, delivery approach, and project outcomes
  • Competitive salary + package in a flexible, lifestyle-friendly location
  • Work with well-known national and international manufacturers
