CAD Programmer – Laser & Press Cutting

An exciting opportunity has become available for a skilled CAD Programmer to join a well-established and growing steel fabrication business in West Brisbane.

We are looking for someone with strong CAD experience who can support laser and press cutting operations, deliver efficient nesting, and contribute to production planning in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Convert CAD or manual drawings into accurate NC coded cutting files for laser and press machinery
• Optimise nesting layouts to maximise material usage and reduce waste
• Communicate with purchasing and scheduling teams regarding material requirements and project timelines
• Follow and support production schedules, identifying and addressing any delays
• Provide hands-on technical support to the workshop and production staff
• Uphold safety, quality, and continuous improvement standards in line with internal systems

What You’ll Bring:

• A minimum of 12 months’ experience with CAD (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar)
• Experience working with laser cutting or press brake systems in a fabrication or manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with nesting software (SigmaNEST, ProNest, Lantek, etc.) is highly regarded
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• A proactive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
• Relevant safety training or willingness to obtain (First Aid, Fire Safety, Site Induction)
