Austcorp Healthcare are working with a large aged care facility in the beautiful area of Ballina Region of, NSW who are now seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join their team.

Enhancing the lives of aged care residents through the provision of a high standard, well balanced and nutritious  food, the successful candidate is required to have experience working in food services in residential services, hospital, healthcare or a disability environment, with knowledge of catering to different dietary requirements.

Working with a rotating team of 15 kitchen staff, to be successful you will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong organisational skills, and proven experience in relating to a diverse range of people. 

Chef qualifications or a Trade Cook certificate and Food Handling certificate are essential, as experience in menu planning and the Management of food services staff, and an understanding of an ability to support compliance with Residential Aged Care Standards, OH&S and the Food Service Act is required.

Key Responsibilities
  • Working as 2IC to the Head Chef, overseeing operations of the kitchens and ensure quality meals and food services are provided at all times
  • Offering residents a varied, healthy and well balanced diet that meets all nutritional requirements (ability to prepare menus to meet varied needs)
  • To mentor and provide strong leadership to catering staff
  • Maintain infection control and safe food handling processes
Role Requirements
  • A minimum of 1 years’ experience in Catering / Deputy Chef Management
  • Experience in menu planning and catering to different dietary requirements
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills
  • Certificate in Commercial Cookery or equivalent is essential
