Current Team Structure:

Reporting to the Operations Manager of the business, you will manage the day-to-day operations of the production drafting and product development teams alongside a small offshore team of 5 in Vietnam.

The team consists of 7 in product development, 10 production drafters and 5 offshore production drafters. Total team = 23. 

The Opportunity:
  
This is a genuine senior leadership role overseeing both Drafting and Product Development functions.
  
You will be responsible for strategic direction, operational management and continuous improvement across design documentation, new product initiatives and the display home program. This role carries significant influence across the business — commercially, operationally and culturally.
  
It requires a leader who understands volume/project home environments, can manage workflow pressure, elevate standards and drive accountability without compromising design integrity.

Your Core Mandate:
  • Lead and optimise the drafting and product development teams
  • Oversee new product rollout and display home pipeline
  • Ensure accurate, compliant and timely documentation delivery
  • Drive capability uplift, performance management and succession planning
  • Align design outcomes with operational efficiency and business targets
  • Maintain strong governance around regulatory compliance and quality control
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic and day-to-day leadership to drafting, design and product development teams
  • Manage team structure, resourcing and workflow forecasting
  • Conduct structured performance reviews, one-on-ones and development planning
  • Oversee design documentation standards and ensure alignment with building codes and legislation
  • Drive innovation in product offerings, floorplans and display presentation
  • Deliver reporting to senior leadership on workload, delivery metrics and pipeline status
  • Identify process inefficiencies and implement system improvements
  • Foster a culture of accountability, transparency and continuous improvement
  • Manage cross-functional relationships with operations, estimating and construction teams
Experience & Capability Required:
  • Diploma or higher qualification in Building, Drafting, Architecture or related discipline
  • Minimum 5+ years in a drafting or design management leadership role
  • Strong residential construction knowledge (project/volume home experience highly regarded)
  • Extensive understanding of QLD building regulations and compliance frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead experienced technical professionals
  • Highly Experienced with ArchiCAD is essential (Moving to Version 29 soon)
  • Commercial acumen and ability to balance speed, cost and design outcomes
