Job description

Qualified Engineer with a strong Building Services background and knowledge, across Electrical, Mechanical and HVACR; having worked within large Commercial, Shopping Centre, Industrial, University, Hospital or Defence sites.
  
You will hold a holistic view of Electrical (HV & LV), Mechanical, Vertical Transport, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning building services plant and equipment including strong past experience scoping of works for Capex upgrades and new builds (extensions).
  
Ideally you will be a Subject Matter Expect, with consulting experience able to review and interpret Designs and Proposals, ensuring they meet Scope of Works and proposed equipment is fit for purpose.
  
You will also have a strong awareness of Carbon-reduction strategies and Energy Efficiency.

Base Criteria

Degree qualified in Engineering (Electrical, Building Services, Controls or Mechanical) along with a strong understanding of Facilities Engineering from functional benefits to whole-of-life. Exposure to HV Power Supply systems, Alternate Energy sources, Commercial / Industrial Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Hydraulics, Vertical Transport and BMS.

Minimum of 8 years’ experience across Specification, Design, Project Management and Commissioning.

Outline Duties

You will be the primary Subject Matter Expert to create Engineering Scope of Work documents for all new-build and refurbishment / retrofitting projects across their multi-site portfolio in the Perth Metro Region.
  
You will liaise with Consulting Engineers, Manufacturers / Suppliers and Contractors to gather up-to-date information on Building Services Plant & Equipment to assess suitability for inclusion in project briefs as Replacements or Upgrades to existing infrastructure.
  
You will hold the lead Engineering Advisory role overseeing and managing project support activities for new-builds and refurbishments / retrofitting; ensuring the project management team has the necessary technical information and contractors are aware of which kit needs to be installed and non-negotiables on “comparable systems”.
  
You will also play a lead Engineering SME role in identifying, initiating and delivering the Carbon-Reduction Strategies, specifically energy and greenhouse emissions, along with implementing projects to ensure the successful realisation of these strategies.

Skills and Attributes 
  • Degree in Engineering along with 8 years’ experience in consulting engineering or as an In-house Subject Matter Expert.
  • HV Electrical, Alternate Power Solutions, Commercial / Industrial AC&R, Vertical Transport, BMS and Hydraulic System Specification, Design, Project Management and Commissioning.
  • Outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, including consultation, negotiation and high level representational skills.
  • Understanding of 24/7 operational facilities and the impact Capex / Upgrade Works and New Build activities have on that environment.
  • Strong understanding of Industry Codes, Australian Standards and other Statutory provisions.
