A well-established, privately owned engineering group with a strong footprint in the industrial services and custom machinery space is looking to appoint a seasoned Group Operations Manager or General Manager to oversee and drive the next phase of operational growth.

This business has evolved significantly over the past decade - growing from a traditional maintenance outfit into a multi-disciplinary provider of custom machine design, engineering services, and turnkey fabrication solutions. With an in-house team of machinists, welders, designers and project managers, the business services a broad range of industries and has carved out a reputation for innovation, responsiveness, and technical excellence.

About the Role Reporting to the Directors, this is a pivotal role responsible for:

• Leading day-to-day operations across multiple business units (machine building, general engineering, site services)
• Driving efficiency and team performance across workshop, site, and design functions
• Overseeing project delivery, quoting, scheduling, and customer satisfaction
• Implementing systems to scale operations and improve margin
• Playing a key role in leadership succession and long-term strategy
• Coaching a technically skilled team and nurturing a positive, accountable culture

You’ll Bring

• A strong leadership track record within engineering, industrial services, or custom machinery environments
• Experience running a workshop/factory environment combined with site-based project delivery
• Proven ability to juggle commercial responsibility, client engagement, and people leadership
• A practical, outcomes-driven mindset - equally comfortable on the floor or in the boardroom
• Familiarity with SME environments and ability to implement structure and scale
