Job description
About the company
One of Australia’s biggest names based in Melbourne/Sydney/ Brisbane/Perth. They operate globally and have one the largest tech environments on the ground in Australia. They are looking to build 4 new teams starting with the Lead Engineer/Team Manager roles, with a wider engineering team of 300+ engineers
About the role
Lead Engineer / Team Manager is a highly technical people leadership role, all Lead Engineers are to be Staff level engineers. As such this role would never be 100% hands off, when managing a smaller team 3-4 people (most of the teams right now).
The split would be 60/40 with 60% being leadership and 40% being hands on. If a team grows larger (maximum 7 for us), expect about 80/20 split. So this role should (i.e. must) always be at least 20% hands on.
If you’re delegating and involving your team well, you can carve out a bit more hands on time for yourself here and there (although 50/50 would likely be the best you’d be able to do before you’re neglecting some part of your leadership responsibilities).
Requirements
The client hire on 50% cultural fit & 50% tech. This is a huge opportunity to work for one of Australia’s biggest names and have a clear path to Engineering Manager.
