Senior Power Systems Engineer – Grid Connection & Renewable Integration

We are now seeking a skilled Senior Power Systems Engineer to support and lead grid connection studies, manage technical stakeholder engagement, and contribute to the successful delivery of complex high-voltage projects across Australia.

The Role

This role involves end-to-end technical delivery of grid connection projects, from modelling and analysis to stakeholder negotiation and compliance. You’ll work across industry-standard tools including PSS®E, PSCAD, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, and Hypersim, supporting key clients in the renewable energy, transmission, and distribution sectors.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct complex power system studies, including load flow, short circuit, and stability analysis.
  • Prepare generator performance standard (GPS) studies and supporting documentation in compliance with Schedule 5 of the National Electricity Rules.
  • Engage with AEMO and Network Service Providers to negotiate GPS outcomes and connection agreements.
  • Lead or support the preparation of technical reports related to registration, modelling, and commissioning.
  • Assist with project controls, subcontractor coordination, and cost-effective engineering design.
  • Support junior engineers through mentoring and knowledge sharing.
About You
  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering (or related field).
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in power systems analysis, with a focus on renewable energy and grid connection.
  • Strong proficiency in PSS®E, PSCAD, PowerFactory; Hypersim experience desirable.
  • Sound knowledge of the Australian National Electricity Rules (NER) and the generator connection process.
  • Confident communicator with a track record of engaging stakeholders at all levels.
  • Chartered status (CPEng) with Engineers Australia is desirable but not essential.
