About the Opportunity
An established and well-known builder is seeking an experienced Estimating Manager to lead its Contract and Spec Homes estimating function.
This is a senior leadership role responsible for delivering accurate cost planning, commercial competitiveness and estimating governance across multiple programs. You will play a key role in strengthening processes, improving commercial outcomes and developing team capability.
About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Preconstruction, you will oversee the end-to-end estimating capability across Contract and Spec Home channels. This includes strategic oversight, team leadership, risk management and performance monitoring across the project lifecycle.
You will ensure estimates, budgets and tender documentation are accurate, commercially sound and aligned with business targets.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the estimating function across Contract and Spec Homes
- Prepare and oversee accurate cost estimates, budgets and Bills of Quantities
- Ensure governance, consistency and quality assurance across estimating outputs
- Develop and maintain the Estimating Management Plan
- Review and monitor budget margins to align with commercial objectives
- Drive continuous improvement of estimating systems, processes and behaviours
- Lead cost planning and risk management across project lifecycles
- Establish and monitor performance metrics and reporting frameworks
- Participate in annual planning and high-level program costing
- Coach and develop estimators, supporting cross-training and succession planning
- Engage and influence senior internal and external stakeholders
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in estimating within residential construction
- Proven experience leading and developing estimating teams
- Strong commercial acumen and cost control expertise
- Extensive experience preparing and reviewing tenders and budgets
- Demonstrated experience in risk management within construction projects
- Tertiary qualifications in Building, Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills
