With rapid growth in Australia, they’re looking for a technically minded professional to step into a business development and technical sourcing role.

The Role

This is a unique opportunity for someone with a technical background to break into sales and business development. You’ll drive the identification, acquisition, and supply of sought-after specialty metals across Australia.
You’ll learn to combine your technical knowledge with commercial skills while building lasting supplier relationships and gaining experience in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial business.

Experience

No prior sales experience is required - this role is designed to train and develop ambitious, technically minded professionals into commercial experts.
  • A background or degree in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science, metallurgy, or related technical field.
  • Ambition, drive, and a desire to learn and grow into a sales/business development career.
  • Strong organisational skills, ability to prioritise, and time management.
  • Excellent communication skills, confident speaking with suppliers and colleagues at all levels.
  • Willingness to travel and build relationships face-to-face.
  • Full, clean driving licence.
Why This Role?
  • Launch your sales career with a company that will invest in your development.
  • Work with high-value, sought-after materials in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Gain exposure to international markets and trading opportunities.
  • Join a tight-knit, supportive team with zero red tape - your ideas are welcome and acted on.
  • Clear career progression: start in sourcing - move into full business development - trading and regional responsibilities.
  • Competitive salary plus discretionary bonus and travel reimbursement.
  • Travel across Australia and potentially globally, while building invaluable commercial and relationship-building skills.
This is a rare chance for a technically minded professional to step into sales without prior experience, develop commercial expertise, and grow with a business on a global trajectory.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prospect, qualify, and build strong relationships with suppliers of specialty metals and scrap materials.
  • Monitor market pricing and trends to secure high-value opportunities.
  • Support chemical processing and trading activities as your skills develop.
  • Expand the supplier network and develop a personal book of business.
  • Travel regularly across Australia to meet suppliers (approx. 1 trip/month), with potential international travel in the future.
  • Work closely with both local and international teams, learning business development, negotiation, and trading skills on the job.
