About the Role
This is a pivotal leadership role within a well-established Engineering and System Integration business, driving technical excellence, commercial performance and team capability.

This position sits on the Business Management Team and is responsible for the delivery, governance and performance of the engineering function.

As Technical Services Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team specialising control system integration across diverse industrial applications.

You will own engineering performance, from utilisation and financial outcomes through to WHS, quality, environmental compliance and continuous improvement.

This role blends strategic leadership, operational delivery and commercial oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Team Performance
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performing engineering team
  • Manage recruitment, performance reviews, development planning and workforce capability
  • Drive utilisation targets and overhead budget performance
  • Ensure consistent application of company processes, audit activities and feedback mechanisms
Technical & Operational Delivery
  • Oversee delivery of engineering projects to scope, budget and schedule
  • Maintain technical standards, documentation control and software licensing compliance
  • Support scheduling and resource allocation across projects
  • Participate in operational reviews and management planning
Commercial & Opportunity Management
  • Oversee engineering input into proposals and estimations
  • Ensure governance compliance, margin integrity and cost-of-sale efficiency
  • Collaborate with the opportunity team to convert pipeline into successful delivery
  • Monitor engineering order intake and section performance against targets
Governance & Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with WHS, Quality and Environmental standards
  • Lead internal audit activities and participate in external audits
  • Monitor operational audit statistics and CDR performance metrics
About You
You are a technically credible engineering leader with strong commercial acumen and proven people management capability.

Essential Experience & Skills:
  • Tertiary qualification in Electrical Engineering or similar
  • Senior-level System Integration experience 
  • Proven delivery of engineering projects on time and within budget
  • Strong estimation capability (WUC, scope definition and cost forecasting)
  • Personnel management and negotiation skills
  • Ability to lead in a complex, project-driven environment

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: Achievable package circa $250,000 commensurate on experience
Location: Wollongong Area, NSW
